Travelogues
As many of you know I travel a lot. I've had many request to talk about my travels. Here are the first of some talks I'm developing. More to follow.
Culture, History & Landscapes - Norway
Visiting Stavanger to see the Nobel Prize winner’s plagues, a government shop to buy alcohol; Olden to see fjords and trolls; Geiringer for the Norwegian love of the outdoors and the legend of the Seven Sisters Waterfall; and Haugesund with it’s connection to Harold Fairhair and its statue of Marilyn Monroe.
Sailing to Malaysia, Brunei & Singapore
A trip to Penang, West Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia, both very different; Bandar Seri Begawan in the small country of Brunei then on to magnificent Singapore, the Lion City. Join me for a glimpse into the scenery, culture and history.
Travelling to the Edge of the World - Greenland
After the collapse of the Viking settlements, Greenland faded from much of the world’s view. However, the legacy of Erik the Red lives on, with his reconstructed settlement offering a glimpse into the island’s Viking past. Today, Greenland is a self-governing part of the Kingdom of Denmark, blending ancient traditions with modern independence. Join me for a captivating journey through Greenland’s vibrant capital, Nuuk, and its smaller, remote communities. Along the way, we’ll explore unique cultural treasures like the fascinating Stone Man Exhibition, where an entire town transforms into an open-air sculpture gallery, bringing Greenland’s rich history and creativity to life.
From Viking Settlers to a Sought After Destination - Iceland
Once a remote and isolated island, Iceland now holds a prominent place in the northern hemisphere, with a rich history that began with Norse settlers. Join me as I explore Reykjavik, a UNESCO City of Literature, and venture to other coastal towns to uncover Iceland’s unique blend of culture, breath taking scenery, and the ingenious ways its people have adapted to the island’s often harsh and dramatic climate.
